Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford was established in 1989. With a 217-bed acute care facility serving the northern third of Mississippi and 80 medical and surgical specialists with over 30 specialty areas such as cardiology, medical oncology and neurosurgery, it is clear that the Baptist Memorial Health Care System is truly invested in the Oxford community.
Since 1989, Baptist has put over $140 million into the facilities. Also, the medical staff more than tripled since 1989.
The hospital is very proud of the heart care center which offers a number of heart care services from non-invasive to heart surgery. Baptist North Mississippi's Sleep Disorders Center is accredited from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and has four hotel-style observation suites and specializes in the treatment of many sleep disorders.
The experienced OB/GYNs, nursing staff and patient educators work together to provide the best patient care and recognizes the different stages of a woman's life at the Women's Pavillion.
Baptist North Mississippi recently opened the $21 million Baptist Cancer Institute and Diagnostic Center. The center offers radiation therapy, chemotherapy and advanced diagnostic tools (including a PET scanner and an open MRI).
Along with the new cancer institute the hospital has invested $37.5 million in expansion. With the money that was invested Baptist doubled the size of the emergency department, increased the number of surgery suites, created additional patient rooms and improved outpatient services.
